I have read almost everything that Rudy has written and, for the most part, I have always really enjoyed his stories. They have just the right amount of real world application and math coupled w/the strange and fantastic to keep me coming back. These stories are unique because he talks a little about how he came up with the idea for each one after it is finished. It is fun to read about who he had in mind when he wrote them and where he was in his life. Overall, he is a fascinating person and a good writer who has some amazing, mind bending ideas. My only caution is that he does come off as a bit of a misogynist in his stories. His female characters are somewhat lacking in development. However, I often think that this is his intent and that we are meant to focus more on the ideas than the characters. At least that's what I choose to believe!Product details

It was agreat pleasure to ( re)read all those stories, with quite a number of times a "twist" his sense of humour runs very much parellel with mine!
Wonderful anthology of selected works scrupulously picked by author. With additional benefit of short post words for each story with nice details how it was written and author inspirations.
Amazing book, amazing stories! You will love it if you are a fan of some creative scenarios in a normal and routine life
Sharp, funny, little gems of fiction. Reminds me of Borges and Twain. Rucker writes literary sci fi, and that is a rare commodity. This book is A bargain at the price.
Wool Omnibus runs a close second, but the bang/buck ratio here rocks. Almost a thousand pages of short stories that are all over the map but fun to wade through.
Channeling Poe through one's penis, Giant Ants evolving into wheeled vehicles that roam the freeways of SoCal, social-networking wonks live blogging the end of the Universe while trying to lose their virginity...you get the idea.
There's plenty of context as well, with an excellent intro and an interesting epilogue after almost all of the fifty-some stories.
Do you know how much respect I lost for Stevenson when he went steampunk? that... that was a very sad day. Keep cyberpunk alive! Rucker is "real cyberpunk"
Also, I don't normally spend a lot of time thinking about how much books cost to buy (the opportunity cost of reading them dwarfs the purchase price) - but at six bucks, this has got to be the best literary value I have ever seen outside of project Gutenberg.
Rudy? You should have charged me north of $60 for this.
